Since changing my way of eating I’ve rarely indulged in any of the foods I’ve given up, but, I LOVE, love, LOVE air popped popcorn with butter and sea salt. So, a whole 3 times in 8ish months I’ve had some. First time I felt kind of crappy. But, mostly ignored it. Had it again, knowing it was probably a bad idea. Felt pretty crappy.
Celebrating my 40th birthday we got Mexican take out before the birthday party began. Grilled chicken with tons of yummy veggies, it had corn on it, but, I picked it mostly off. SO much corn. Sneaky corn. I realized I was eating some, but, oh well, shrugged it off. That night I had an awful headache, heartburn for the first time since changing my food habits and just felt…crappy. I’d been drinking too, so, it could have been a combo, but, wow.
Cut to last night, family movie night, made some popcorn for the boys and ate about 3 handfuls…yeah, I don’t learn. Mild headache, heartburn, aching wrists, and my mouth felt tingly and just odd. I have learned my lesson. But, I will cry over no more popcorn!
I have to ask myself, did corn always make me feel that crappy? Was I just in so much pain, so many headaches, stomach issues, overall bad health that I couldn’t even see the very obvious almost immediate effects? Yes. Most likely. I ate so much garbage that corn would have been the least of my issues.
It’s funny how easily you can miss the very clear signals your body sends when you are flooding it with SO many foods that just aren’t good for it.
